But later in my outings, I started pulling out my telephoto lens just out of curiosity first, but soon realize the potential this has. With the telephoto, now you can pick a foreground subject and focus the attention their by compressing it in to the shot while giving subtle hints that its captured during a sunset. Here are two shots I took on my first ever winter outing (I tend to stay inside since I hate the cold). The first one was taken with a wide angle lens and the second with a telephoto lens. The second shot focuses on one small region of the first one in much more detail. See what they each bring to the table.

Since I already had the telephoto lens in place, took this hand held, placing the moon between two telephone wires to create the frame.
