I have used two speakers from my home theater to hold up a plastic lid filled with water. Come colored paper was laid at the base of this setup and household table lamp was used to shine a beam of light at this. The light then bounces off the colored paper and travels through the plastic container and the thin layer of water. My canon 600D was setup on a tripod with a 50mm portrait lens and some extension tubes. So, you really don't even need a macro lens for this shoot. (Btw, extension tubes are plastic hollow tubes with electrical connectors to make the lens work...extremely cheap if you don't mind the brand). Then add a little bit of Olive oil into the water and mix them with your fingers. This will create bubbles and then you just have focus (then lock) and keep on shooting.
